Surgery
Gehrman Animal Hospital operates a full service surgical facility, performing a variety of routine, elective procedures as well as
complex, non-elective surgeries.
Routine surgeries are scheduled Monday through Friday. In most cases, your pet will return home the same day. For the health and
safety of your pet, all animals must be up to date on vaccinations prior to surgery. In addition, presurgical blood work is required to
evaluate your pet's health, prior to most procedures. In many cases these tests can be performed the morning of the procedure.
Examples of routine procedures would be spay or neuter, tumor removal, and dental procedures.
Non-elective surgeries may be performed either by Gehrman Animal Hospital staff veterinarians or visiting surgical specialists.
Non-routine surgeries include procedures to address: ear, urogenital, orthopedic, gastrointestinal, oral, and cancer conditions. If a
specialist is needed for your animal's procedure. Surgeons from Twin Cities Veterinary Surgery, and Veterinary Surgical Specialists are
available to operate in our clinic.
A consultation with one of our staff veterinarians will help you
decide the best surgery option for your pet.
